First Calgary Savings Lacrosse Education Program
Lacrosse is Canada’s summer national sport and enjoys a long history in our country reaching all the way back to its origins as an important First Nations competition.
Lacrosse is the fastest game on two feet.
At the grassroots level, it is not only fast to play, but one of the fastest growing sports in North America.
The Calgary Roughnecks understand that active children are a critical part of Calgary’s healthy future and lacrosse represents an outstanding activity opportunity for Calgary kids.
The Calgary Roughnecks are privileged to have a partnership with First Calgary Savings that brings professional lacrosse instruction into local schools.
What happens in the First Calgary Savings Lacrosse Education Program?
Calgary and area schools have the opportunity to experience two different professional lacrosse events - Classroom skills instruction and a multimedia demonstration where students are able to see high calibre skill demonstrations and video clips from NLL games along with an question and answer period that emphasizes the important role that school plays in the development high character players.
There is also a special clinic for teachers interested in teaching lacrosse and an entire home game (February 10, 2007 against the Philadelphia Wings) dedicated to celebrating the First Calgary Savings Lacrosse Education Program. Students and teachers that have been involved in the program will be selected to participate in this special night of lacrosse at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
How does my school arrange to have the Roughnecks come and visit? How much will it cost?
The program does not cost the school any money. Any school can contact the First Calgary Lacrosse Education Program Director:
