ROUGHNECKS LOSE GOALIE TO BOSTON
Calgary, AB - Calgary Roughnecks goalie Ryan Avery was selected today in the 2007 National Lacrosse League Expansion Draft held this afternoon at 2:00pm EST by Boston, the new expansion team that will begin play in 2008. Boston selected a total of 13 players, one from each member club.

Avery, a rookie last season, he was traded to the Roughnecks from the Buffalo Bandits in exchange for a 1st round draft pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-1, 210lbs, Hamilton, ON native has played in 21 career games and has a goals against average of 10.78 and a save percentage of 77.51.

"Obviously this is a big loss, Ryan has a great future in this league but we all take a hit in expansion to help the league grow and we'll get through it,” said Roughnecks general manager Kurt Silcott. “We are just lucky that we still have quality goaltenders in Dietrich and Leyshon in our system as well as Alex Coutts, who's been on our practice squad.”
