CALGARY, AB – Calgary Roughnecks President and General Manager Brad Banister announced today that the club has signed forward Kaleb Toth to a one-year deal.
Terms of the deals were not disclosed and are subject to league approval.
"As far as lacrosse is concerned, Kaleb is one of the most recognizable guys in Calgary,” said Banister. “He's our poster boy and a great athlete as well, so we're just ecstatic to have him back.”
Toth, a 31-year-old native of Calgary, AB and a fan favourite, has been with the Roughnecks since 2001. Weighing in at 205 pounds, and standing six-foot-one, Toth scored 19 goals and assisted 31 for the Roughnecks during their 2008 season.
During the Roughnecks playoff run, Toth assisted four goals while scoring six.
“I’m very happy and excited about re-signing with Calgary,” said Toth. “I wasn't planning on going anywhere else, but it was just about getting the numbers right and dotting the i's and crossing the t's and all that good stuff.”
Prior to his time with the Roughnecks, Toth played for the Toronto Rock for two seasons.
“Obviously I want to contribute by helping bring home a championship, but most of all I want to play my game, be more consistent this year and just do what the coaches ask of me, whether it's to score goals, or help set up plays,” added Toth.
The Calgary Roughnecks kick off their 2008 Training Camp this Saturday at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre in Cochrane, AB, in preparation for the 2009 season. To view the complete training camp schedule, please click here.
