RIGGERS UNBEATEN STREAK SNAPPED BY MAMMOTH
The Calgary Roughnecks five-game winning streak ended in Colorado Saturday as the Mammoth squeaked by their Western Division rivals to take the 13-12 victory at Denver's Pepsi Center.

Colorado's Brian Langtry led the Mammoth with seven points (3g, 4a) helping them to their fourth victory of the season.

The Roughnecks came out strong in the first quarter, beginning in the same fashion as they have in their previous five games. Josh Sanderson and Dane Dobbie both scored giving the Roughnecks a 3-0 lead to start the first frame.

Jeff Shattler took the first Rigger penalty of the night for holding, which gave the Mammoth the opportunity to put themselves on the board after an unassisted goal from Brian Langtry. Tyler Crompton also gets a lucky goal when he tries to catch a pass from Tom Ethington which instead bounces straight into the Calgary net at 13:52.

Colorado's Jed Prossner evens the score at three, with only one second left on the clock to end the first quarter.

The second quarter didn't show any signs of slowing down between the two rival teams. Matt Leveque received a five minute major for an illegal cross-check on Dobbie right off the draw, giving the Roughnecks a great opportunity to take the lead at 3:23.

Kaleb Toth scored twice in the second, along with goals from Curt Malawsky and Scott Ranger. Dobbie tallies his third goal of the night at 10:24 to give the Riggers' forward the hat-trick.

The Mammoth notch three in the second with goals from Langtry, Crompton and Jamie Shewchuk, but the Roughnecks are able to maintain their two-goal lead to finish the first half 8-6.

The third quarter saw an equal amount of goals from each team. Kelusky and Ranger scored by the half-way mark giving the Roughnecks the four-goal lead with 10-6. The hot start proved to be short lived after the Mammoth retaliated with two goals of their own from Leveque and Langtry.

The fourth quarter proved to be exhilarating for everyone involved keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Toth, a huge offensive force for the Roughnecks, receives a five minute major for high sticking Gavin Prout at 1:57 of the final frame.

The Mammoth take advantage of the power play tying the game at 10 with goals from Shewchuk and Gary Rosyski.

Malawsky notches his 250th career goal at 7:22 to take back the Roughnecks lead.

From here on out it's a back-and-fourth battle as thy Mammoth don't waste any time creating a wave of goals from Tom Ethington, Prout, and Jeff Prossner giving Colorado their first lead of the night with a score of 13-11.

Goaltender Pat Campbell who received a ball to the knee earlier in the night is pulled with back-up goalie Matt King taking his spot between the pipes.

With only 1:15 left in the game, the Mammoth take two penalties to give Calgary the two-man advantage and a chance to take back the game.

A goal from Rigger's Josh Sanderson brings Calgary within one, but in the end the Roughnecks come-up one goal short, snapping their unbeaten streak and giving the Mammoth the satisfaction of beating one of their biggest rivals.

Dobbie led the Roughnecks in points with six (3g, 3a) followed by Toth (2g, 3a), Tracey Kelusky (1g, 4a), Sanderson (2g, 3a), Malawsky (2g, 2a), Ranger (2g, 2a) and Devan Wray (2a).

Langtry (3g, 4a), Prout (1g, 4a), Rosyski (1g, 3a) and Prossner (2g, 1a) all led the Mammoth. Double points were counted by Bryan Safarik (2a), Crompton (2g), Ethington (1g, 1a) and Shewchuk (2g). Mike Ward (1a), Nick Carlson (1a), John Gallant (1a), Bruce Murray (1a), Matt Danowski (1a), and Leveque (1g) all added to the Mammoth victory.

The Roughnecks have a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday, February 22nd against the Boston Blazers at Pengrowth Saddledome. Game time is 3:00 p.m. MT with all the action being broadcast on nll.com.
