CALGARY, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks announced Friday that the Western Division Final will be held Saturday, May 9th at the Pengrowth Saddledome, pending the outcome of this Sunday's matchup against the Colorado Mammoth. Game time will be 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on nll.com.
A win in this Sunday's Western Division Semi-Final would guarantee that the Roughnecks continue on in the 2009 National Lacrosse League's playoff race and face either the Portland Lumberjax or the San Jose Stealth.
The Calgary Roughnecks prepare to take on the Mammoth Sunday in an afternoon affair which kicks off at 3:00 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on both The FAN 960 radio and nll.com.
The Calgary Police Service will play a prominent role in the Western Division Semi-Final game. A Calgary Police recruiting booth will be set up in the Pengrowth Saddledome and recruiters will be on-hand to talk to fans interested in careers in policing. The Calgary Police Service is hiring 200 police officers this year and is actively recruiting in Alberta and Western Canada.
Former Roughnecks' goalie Ryan Avery, who is now a Constable with the Calgary Police Service, will be taking part in the ball drop ceremony, while the Calgary Police Service Ceremonial Unit will be interspersed in the fan tunnel. Members of the Service's Traffic Section will also be at the game revving up fans as they ride their motorcycles around the lower bowl. All of this while Calgary Police Service Constable Carlamay Blight sings the national anthems.
Pre-Game festivities get started at 1:00 p.m. in the Avison Young Clube featuring Joshuas Habit. Carnival For Kids At Heart will also be in attendance outside of Duttons providing a dunk tank, bouncy house and bungee run for adults and kids alike.
Members of the Calgary Stampeders will be on hand to sign autographs and the Roughnecks Drill Crew will be out and about with tattoos.
The first 10,000 fans in the ‘Dome will receive City TV thunder sticks to assist in making some noise for the boys!
To top it all off, FAN 960 radio will be hosting all the pre-game festivities.
Families are invited to come down and take in the festivities in what is sure to be an action packed afternoon at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
Those interested in purchasing Roughnecks tickets can do so by visiting ticketmaster.ca or calling the Roughnecks office at (403) 294-9244.
