In the off-season, the Calgary Roughnecks are dispersed from the West to East Coast playing in their summer leagues. The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) is out West while the Major Series Lacrosse League (MSL) is located in Eastern Canada.
Thirteen members of the 2009 Championship team are playing in the WLA. These players are spread out between Nanamio, Langley, New Westminster, Maple Ridge, Burnaby, Coquitlam and Victoria.
Jeff Shattler is the lone Roughneck with the Victoria Shamrocks who are currently on top of the WLA with a 12-3 record. Peter McFetridge is playing for New Westminister who sit below Victoria with an 11-3-2 record.
Dane Dobbie, Andrew McBride, and Mike Kilby are with the Coquitlam Adanacs, currently sitting fourth in the WLA. Dobbie who led the Roughnecks in goals in 2009 with 41 is now leading the Adanacs with 28 goals and 29 assists. Future Roughneck coach, Curt Malawsky also plays with the Adanacs.
Kaleb Toth, Scott Ranger, Matt King, Cayle Ratcliff and Kyle Couling are all playing for Nanaimo this season who are having a rough year, sitting second from the bottom with a 3-10-2 record.
Greg Hinman is playing with Maple Ridge (7-10-0).
Out East, the Roughnecks are playing for the Brampton Excelsiors and Peterborough Lakers. Brampton holds a 13-5 record and shares the top spot in the MSL with the Six Nations lacrosse team. Peterborough remains a close third holding a 13-5 record.
Josh Sanderson has 81 points (27g, 54a) with the Exelsiors, where he plays with Mike and Scott Carnegie. Roughnecks Captain, Tracey Kelusky has played eight games with Peterbourough and has notched 10 goals and six assists.
