CALGARY, AB The Calgary Roughnecks Lacrosse Club is proud to announce the Star Wars-themed jersey auction, held from January 26 February 12 at ElevateAuctions.com, raised $18,500.  The auction dollars combined with a $4,820 donation from Crescent Point Energy sees a total of $23,320 directed to STARS Air Ambulance.

The limited edition jersey, featuring Luke Skywalker on the ice planet Hoth, made its one and only appearance of the 2017 NLL season on January 28 when the Roughnecks hosted the Colorado Mammoth in the team’s second Star Wars Party.

“STARS is grateful for the community support for this unique fundraiser, held for the second year by the Calgary Roughnecks.  Your donation makes it possible for STARS to be there for the next patient,” said Gurpreet Lail, executive director, STARS Foundation. “STARS was created by the grassroots support of Albertans more than 30 years ago, and it is heartwarming to see the community continue to support this essential service.”

The Roughnecks, who held their first Star Wars-themed jersey auction last season, have now provided STARS with more than $48,500.

“Our fans have once again stepped up to support STARS, a crucial urgent care provider in western Canada,” said Mike Board, general manager, Calgary Roughnecks.  “The funds generously donated today will continue to assist efforts to provide rapid, specialized care to critically ill and injured patients.  On behalf of the Calgary Roughnecks, thank you to all bidders for investing in the safety of our community.”
