The Calgary Roughnecks are excited to announce an opportunity to participate in the 2017 Jr. NLL Tournament in Oakville.

The three divisions participating in the NLL-sponsored tournament are:

•           PeeWee (players born in 2005 or 2006)
•           Bantam (players born in 2003 or 2004)
•           Midget (players born in 2001 or 2002)

These teams will compete at the fifth annual Jr. NLL Tournament where they will be playing against other athletes representing their respective NLL teams. The tournament takes place Aug. 25-27 at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, Ontario.

Open tryout sessions for the three Jr. Roughnecks teams will take place in Calgary from June 16-18 – location to be announced – at a cost of $50 per player. Players who are not registered in advance can join the tryout for a walk-up fee of $75. Both non-refundable options include two ticket vouchers to the 2018 Roughnecks home opener.

Throughout the preparation period and at the tournament in Oakville, Calgary Roughnecks players will serve as guest coaches, working with players, team coaches and parents to make the tournament a unique and fun learning experience for everyone.

If selected, the cost to attend the event will be $2,000 which includes hotel, food, transportation (in Toronto, airfare separate), apparel, entry fee, on-floor practices, insurance and coaches expenses. There will be an opportunity to pre-sell an advertising jersey bar for $500 to companies to reduce costs. If the ad bar is sold to a company, the $500 will come directly off of the event fee.
  • Games will be played at TRAC plus another nearby arena over Friday, Saturday and Sunday of that weekend.
  • Each team is guaranteed four games.
  • Friday Night will be a Welcome Event & Skills Competition at TRAC (includes BBQ, Jr. Players & NLL Players participation, music, etc.)
  • Jr. NLL Tournament memento given to all players participating.
  • NLL Player Autographs scheduled throughout the day at TRAC.
  • Tournament merchandise available for sale.
  • Players must register as a runner or goalie, not both.
  • Players may be required to attend more than one try-out camp.
  • Players, Club & Team Alberta coaches are strongly encouraged to work together to allow obligations of playing for all teams to be met. Recommended priority is box club games, followed by Team Alberta activities then Jr. Roughnecks.
  • Players are to follow the criteria and rules as set up by the Canadian Lacrosse Association.
