We check in on how all of your favourite Roughnecks players are doing with their summer clubs

After one week of play in the summer senior A Major Series Lacrosse league in Ontario and B.C.’s Western Lacrosse Association, a pair of Roughnecks are siting among the league leaders.

Out east, righty Wesley Berg is tied for fifth in scoring with 10 points (4g, 6a) in two games with the Oakville Rock. Berg also has five goals and an assist in three games with the Denver Outlaws of the MLL, the professional field lacrosse league.

On the other coast, lefty Riley Loewen is second in scoring, behind only Corey Small, with 16 points (7g, 9a) in three games with the Maple Ridge Burrards.

Sticking with the Burrards, goaltender Frank Scigliano is 2-1 with an 8.30 GAA and a .808 save percentage. Defender Garrett McIntosh has suited up for two of the team’s three games, but hasn’t been able to find the scoresheet — not that he’s expected to.

Greg Harnett (Victoria Shamrocks) and Keegan Rittinger (Langley Thunder) are the only other Roughnecks to suit up with their WLA squads so far.

In the MSL, two Roughnecks rookies have been making some noise early. Lefty Holden Cattoni has found the back of the net five times and has seven points in just two games so far this summer with the Peterborough Lakers. Vaughn Harris, who played in just one game with the Riggers in 2017, has matched Cattoni’s efforts with seven points (5g, 2a) of his own in a pair of games with the Six Nations Chiefs.

Curtis Dickson made his season debut with the Lakers on June 1 and made an impact right away, netting two goals and two assists. In the MLL with the New York Lizards, Dickson has three goals and an assist in a trio of games.

Through two games with the MSL’s Brampton Excelsiors, defender Tyson Bell has three assists.

Another defender, Dan MacRae, did not find the scoresheet in his only game with the Rock.

Goalie Zach Higgins is 2-1 with a 8.28 GAA and a .552 save percentage in three starts with the Brooklin Redmen. He’s also picked up four assists in the two games, besting his combined point totals for the past two seasons.

With the Redmen, transition player Mitch Wilde has registered points in each of his three games with the team. He currently has five points (2g, 3a) and two penalty minutes.
