Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames announced today that Kaleb Toth will be recognized as the first recipient of the “Forever A Roughneck” distinction for a Calgary Roughnecks player.  The “Forever A Flame”, “Forever A Hitmen”, and “Forever A Roughneck” programs were established to honour players of teams within the Calgary Flames organization.  Former Flames defenceman Al MacInnis was the inaugural recipient of the Forever A Flame honour in 2012.  Toth will receive the honour on March 2nd at Kaleb Toth Night prior to the Roughnecks home game versus the Edmonton Rush. Toth will be accompanied by his family and members of the Roughnecks team in a pre-game ceremony at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

“To be recognized by the Calgary Flames organization in this manner is truly an honour,” commented Toth. “To be part of the Flames family as the inaugural lacrosse member in the Forever A Roughneck program in my hometown makes it that much more special.”

The Flames organization has established a tradition that permits players for all Flames organization teams, including the Flames, Hitmen and Roughnecks, with the opportunity to proudly wear the numbers of some of the all-time greats for these franchises. The Forever A Roughneck honour will provide the opportunity to recognize the contributions of Roughnecks players both on the floor and in the Calgary community.  A special banner for the honouree will be hoisted and remain on permanent display at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

“This honour is the highest recognition for any player in our sports organization,” said Flames President & CEO Ken King. “Kaleb has been a tremendous ambassador for the Calgary Roughnecks and his accomplishments as a player along with his outstanding work in the Calgary community certainly warrant the Forever A Roughneck distinction.”

Toth, a four-time NLL all-star (2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006) holds almost every regular season offensive record for the Roughnecks franchise including most games played (160), goals (274), assists (354), points (628) and game-winning goals (15).

In addition to leading the Roughnecks to two National Lacrosse League Championships (2004 and 2009) and one with the Toronto Rock (2000), Kaleb has established the Roughnecks franchise record for playoff assists (34), power-play goals (8), loose balls (78) and is second in games played (16), goals (22) and points (56).

A native of Calgary, Alberta, Toth has been an integral part of the Calgary Roughnecks since joining the organization during the inaugural 2002 campaign. In his 11 seasons with the Roughnecks, Toth helped define the game of lacrosse within the community and led the growth of the Roughnecks franchise and brand in the Calgary market.  His impact on the game and Calgary community will be forever remembered by his induction into the “Forever A Roughneck” program.
