Evans, Poulin and Snider earn NLL Player of the Week accolades after unbeaten road trip
Calgary, AB - The National Lacrosse League has announced that Calgary Roughnecks forward Shawn Evans, goaltender Mike Poulin and transition Geoff Snider have received Player of the Week awards for Week 4 of the 2013 NLL season.
Evans, voted the Offensive Player of the Week, led the Roughnecks with four goals and nine assists in Calgary’s 19-12 win over the Colorado Mammoth on Friday, January 25. His 13-point effort set a franchise record for most points in a single game. On Sunday, Evans recorded six points (2g, 4a) as Calgary defeated Philadelphia 16-8, sweeping the two-game weekend. Evans now leads the league in points at 31 (13g, 18a) with four games played.
Poulin, named Defensive Player of the Week, finished Week 4 with a 2-0 record while posting a 9.58 goals-against average and a .806 save percentage. The 2012 NLL Goaltender of the Year made 37 saves Friday evening in Colorado and stopped 42-of-50 shots in Sunday’s match versus Philadelphia.
Snider, selected as Transition Player of the Week, finished the weekend set with four goals and three assists for seven points while collecting 28 loose balls. He went 23-for-29 (79 per cent) on face-offs in Friday’s 19-12 win at Colorado and won 20-of-26 (77 per cent) draws in Sunday’s 16-8 decision over Philadelphia.
The Roughnecks (2-2) next see action on Saturday, February 2 in Edmonton against the Rush (1-2) at 7 p.m.
